Until next week. Gotta say, I'm so glad that pain is over. It was bad. Now, I just have a few twinges if I knock one of the things that is connecting the thin wire that is exiting my body to the thicker grey wires. Sondra wound the thin wire then covered it with gauze and covered that with thin, clear tape. If I snag a waistband on it, YEOWCH!
Things are still going well with the InterStim. Two minor accidents. One when I had a bad sneezing fit. I leaked a tiny bit. The second was a close call with #2. I made it, but just. But, that was because I had the stimulators set too low. I'm between a 2/3. It was at 1. Lesson learned. I asked Sondra if I could turn the amount of stimulation down at night. If you've ever used a TENS unit, then you know what I'm referring to. It's a pulsing. you can set the level of or strength of the pulses. I've accidentally, when trying to turn it off so that I can give myself a sponge bath, turned it the wrong way and I almost jump off of the floor. WHOA. It's painful, but not horribly. More like a big jolt of electricity! I now know which way to turn them! It also reminds me of how I feel when I begin to feel my glucose levels dropping; almost the same jittery feeling, only in my chest. Weird. I have to really stay in tune with my sugars, now.
Right now, the only real discomforts are minor ones.
- the tape holding my wires itches at night
- making sure my underwear/pants waistband covers these.
- Making sure the grey wires are tucked into my leggings or skirts
- Wearing the controllers on my bra; one on each strap.
- Sleeping with all of the above
- Removing them when I wash dishes
- Not being able to shower or get wet
- NOT BEING ABLE TO WASH MY HAIR!
Now is the time when it's getting very difficult to not do anything. I thought I'd try to vacuum. I could stand straight. I tried. I failed. The dust bunnies are safe until one of the men come home.
Until next time,
Peace,
